Brunch season is upon us! Between Easter, Mother’s Day, graduation parties, and that plain old feeling of wanting to get out of the house, there are many occasions – formal and informal – to head to brunch.Need a few ideas? Book a table at one of these 12 spots! Remember to make your reservations early (and understand that not everyone’s open on Easter).
1. The Market Italian Village – The Market has been killing it at brunch lately, with creative dishes like shakshuka, fried chicken on French toast, braised lamb over grits + a full bar and espresso counter.
2. 1808 American Bistro – This Delaware eatery is offering a pre-fixe menu for Easter brunch, and their regular Sunday brunch menu is full of creative bites. They use a lot of 65 degree eggs, which are eggs sous vide to the point where the yolk and the white are the same creamy consistency.
3. Columbus Brewing Company Restaurant – A casual pub in the Brewery District with a great kids menu, creative dishes, good beer.
4. The Rossi Bar + Kitchen – We love Chef Matt Heaggans’ menus, and brunch is no exception: French toast, hearty breakfast sandwiches, breakfast pizza.
5. The Table – You can’t go wrong with the beautiful farm-to-table brunch dishes at The Table. Their brioche French toast is some of the best in the city, and I’m a huge fan of the akoori – spicy Indian scrambled eggs.
6. Trattoria Roma – This Grandview Italian restaurant serves a Sunday brunch complete with mimosas, eggs benedict, pastas, cinnamon rolls, you name it.
7. Rusty Bucket – All 10 central Ohio locations will be open and serving weekend brunch. They’ve got good beer, filling brunch dishes, and are very family-friendly.
8. Rockmill Tavern – This Lancaster brewery’s new restaurant in the Brewery District has been voted one of the best new restaurants of last year. It’s hearty and creative pub fare, all pairing nicely with their Belgian-style beers.
9. The Guild House – Attached to the Le Meridien, The Joseph hotel, the Guild House is a quiet and elegant spot. It’s the place where you can get smoked chicken hash or lobster and eggs, AND find a kid’s menu with pancakes, oatmeal, and scrambled eggs.
10. Rooks Tavern – Rooks is a relative newby, but they’ve distinguished themselves with their dry-rubbed barbecue, and they apply their skills of heat and smoke to fascinating brunch dishes like a scramble with house-made chili, smoked trout with eggs, or poutine with mole gravy and rib meat.
11. Kraft House No. 5 – Kraft House has been busy revamping their menus and adding all sorts of specials. Feast on sweet potato pancakes, lox benedicts, breakfast tostadas, and make a run at their Bloody Mary bar.
12. The Barn at Rocky Fork Creek – The Barn’s beautiful Gahanna premises are a great backdrop for their Sunday brunch buffet. It’s family-friendly, but there are excellent adult libations available, especially if you’re a fan of bourbon.
Make your reservations soon! Happy Easter, Happy Spring, and Happy Brunching!
